davidmccracken 2 Posted April 17, 2009 Fashion / Landscape A nice combination I thought. Something a little diffferent for me. (I think at least!) I do hope you like it. Feedback appreciated. Link to comment
owen_omeara 1 Posted April 17, 2009 It is very different for you indeed David and yes I do like it a lot. The subtle color of the dress works beautifully as well as the model placement. Her body and the little ridge she is standing almost on top of suggest a vanishing point on the right side that I like a great deal. Vanishing points and diagonals along with good booze are the staff of life. -Cheers Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 18, 2009 Thanks Owen. It is humbling to know someone like you likes this. I do like this one myself. As for the staffs of life. I cannot argue with you. That said, I might change the order a little. ps I can't take any credit for the dress. Link to comment
stamos 1 Posted April 18, 2009 Beautiful elements in a very interesting composition. Interesting light, angle and point of view. Regards, Stamoulis. Link to comment
sumon_mukherjee 0 Posted April 18, 2009 A beautiful composition. Very good use of the red colour. To me, the white part of the sky is slightly over-exposed and the striking white is acting as a distracter. But this is my personal opinion. The composition is really attractive. Best regards. davidmccracken 2 Posted April 19, 2009 Stamoulis, You describe the reasons I like this image. Thanks a lot. Sumon, There are two small hot spots in this image. Honestly, I didn't think they would be too much of a distraction but obviously I was wrong. Thanks a lot. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 20, 2009 Owen is right about the subtle colour of the dress, and for me, that applies to the entire image. So many "fashion" images these days are so overly saturated that they have an air of unreality to them. This shot of yours avoids that pitfall very well. I also like the way the upper half of the model stands out from the lighter background of the clouds. Link to comment
eimages 0 Posted April 21, 2009 I like this very much, the contrast of green, red, and blue are wonderful, beautiful composition. Best, Alex Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 21, 2009 Jim, Strange as it may seem I didn't think the colour of the dress was so subtle. However, I did conver this to B & W and the dress just disappears. I guess you and Owen think in B & W. I am still learning. Thanks! Alex, I shouldn't say this but I like this myself for the reasons you mention. Thanks a lot. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted April 21, 2009 The way she is standing on the rock looks like she's floating on air or a cut and paste job. I'm usually careful about this David. The cloudy sky however works well here and make her stand out. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 21, 2009 Yes Alec, You always reciprocate on comments made on your photos. However, you don't take negative criticism too well. After leaving my latest comment on one of your photos I knew you would try to find something wrong with one of mine. Your a good photographer but very childish. If you don't like negative comments, don't post your images for critique. Personally, speaking, you could have gone through my portfolio and found many images with gaping faults. Quite honestly I don't see the fault you mention in this image. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 22, 2009 Even though I am a Big Sky kind of a guy...for me there is just not enough in this sky to have this much in this image...The delicate dress on this delicate woman and her femininity is overpowered by the (sorry) bland sky...the good use of perspective is also diminished as well by the big sky......I did a 6x6 crop keeping her on the left looking out of the frame...I tried to keep your chile in the frame but could not...(sorry about that too) also there seems to be something green to the right of her left knee...? This image did stop me in my tracks...the color pink does not work on everybody...when it does work...well... it works! juan Oh....I absolutely love it when someone tries something new!! Kudos....j Link to comment
ray.koushik 0 Posted April 22, 2009 Very nice composition...I like the original here. the extra space on left justifies the stare that is focussed very far away. compliments -koushik Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 22, 2009 Juan, I can't argue with your preferences and I am humbled by the time you took editing my image. That said, I would urge you to look at this again with new eyes. The reason there is so much sky in this is because of the shape of the area of white above her head. The slight blue of the the other clouds totally encompasses this area of white which I thought worked well. Also, your crop has cut her shadow in half. (Being honest with you, it would appear I have cut the top of the head of the shadow which I am sure didn't happen when I framed it. I guess I must have moved.) The green you see to the right of her left knee is lens flare. I thought about cloning it out but in the end I quite liked it. Thanks a lot! Koushik, You may have gathered from my comments that this is an image I like myself. It is always good to know others appreciate it. Thanks a lot. Link to comment
sallycd 0 Posted April 25, 2009 The red dress really stand-out.I like the negative space you too. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 26, 2009 This one works better than the bench. I like her pose and her placement in the frame. To my taste, the proportion of sky and the white central section work well and give an expansive and airy feel that both fits the scene and balances out with the land and your model.. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 26, 2009 Thanks Gordon. Your comment might make you understand why I didn't post the one on the bench as a photo that required critique. I am glad you like this as I do like it myself. Thanks again! Link to comment
andrzejp 7 Posted March 29, 2010 I agree with Gordon completely! It is a very atractive and well composed image. Link to comment
