I guess I could have posted this image in the category of pets. However, it's not my dog.

Continuing the diversification of my p.nut portfolio.

Feedback appreciated.

If this is part of the diversification of your portfolio, then I hope you continue.

This is another departure for you, and I think it's really good. Even though it's in colour, I like it because the colours are not all bright and overly saturated. For me, the composition is perfect, and I like the shadows of the dog and the bench.

For some reason, I get a sense of longing from this photograph, but also a sense of anticipation on the dog's part.

This photograph speaks to me, and I like it a lot. Outstanding work on your part.

Indeed an eerie feeling you captured here David. And some kind of social commentary too. The ephemeral light sky against the shadow and the sturdy table leaves that chained dog literally between the devil and the (light) blue sky. Toast

Jim, I guess this is a departure for me but being honest it was more taken by luck than judgement. I was framing the bench with the idea of placing a model on top of it. The dog ran into the frame. Strange as it may seem, I took this because I know you like dogs. Don't get me wrong. I like dogs too but possibly not with the passion you do.

I like this picture for the reasons you do. Your comments mean a lot and they are very much appreciated. Thanks.

Bettie, Much of what I said to Jim applies to your comment. I would like to point out that the dog is not chained. Thanks a lot.

Great horizon line here David with strong implied vanishing point as well. The dog's line of site is wonderful. I know you are aware of the fact that I generally like dogs more than people. I think Jim would agree with me.

I wasn't aware you liked dogs more than people although I could have guessed that Jim did. (That's not to say he does!) I must confess I am not a great people person myself although I do have soft spots for many of the lovely women I have been fortunate to photograph.

I am pleasantly surprised you like this one Owen. This is one of these I like myself.

I think we may agree on more things than you think. Please don't get the idea that I don't love the women I work with.

I am sure we do agree on a lot of things and I would never think that you have anything but love for the subjects you photograph.

Hello David;

I am happy to categorically state that most of my best friends are dogs.

I like the play of shadow here from the back lighting. Even with the bench centered in the frame the composition feels balanced and well considered. The line of pilings following the dog's sight line out to sea is a nice touch.

The image has a melancholy and somewhat pensive feel. That empty bench along with the dog staring intently out to sea speaks to me of loyalty and loneliness, much like the sailor's wife waiting for the sea to return her love safely back to the shore.

You've managed to convey quite a bit here with a relatively small number of elements, nice work.

I don't understand your comment Gordon. What's a friend? I just know people.

Seriously, I can understand you feel about dogs. As a child I did have my fair share of pets. You have also been very kind commenting on this image. Honestly, I was just lucky. I was eyeing up the bench for another photograph. That said, I think this is better than the image I was trying to take. You can be the judge.

David;

Friends sit and stay when you tell them to and don't jump on the furniture while you're out grocery shopping.

I like both of these images for different reasons. The dog is more cute -- the girl is prettier.

first thanx for your warm comment and rating on my work ( the last hope ) , i wanna tell u that im completly in agree with u for the composition of that work , but i must tell u that i had to do this in this way !!!! cuz for shooting that view in the way u told me i must had a wider lens ( wider than 18mm which i had and i hadnt ! ) or i must go back a little to doing that and i couldnt do that cuz many people were out there in seaside and i didnt want them in the frame ! and or shift the composition to the right side and in this way it cuzes a little loss in the seaside that it has beautiful reflections and has a powerful role in this landscape ! any way , this is the most widest veiw that i had ! if u know any opinion to tell me for fixing that problem ill b glad to here from u david :) . after all this conversation ive to tell u that i like this landscape of yours very much very nice composition and veiw but i think there is a little over exposure in the sky that cuzed a little loss in detail of clouds , with a liitle post processing or useing ND grads and polarizer it could have more impressive sky ( ill post u the processed version ) , on other aspect it is very powerfull shot . best regards <<>>
