John,

The lighting is beautiful and your post processing , while obvious, does seem to work here. You have done one thing compositionally that could be done better. Notice that you have placed the horizon in the exact middle of the frame, thereby declaring that you will not tell us which is more important, the sky or its reflection. Compositionally this is very risky because the viewer who cannot decide which is important tends to look on to other photographs. As its creator you want to make the viewer spend time looking at your photo, not move on.

When I taught photography I asked students to take a marking pen and make smaller compositions within their original. They said that the practice made them see the idea of pictorial composition better. You might like to try it, making sure that either the sky or the reflection becomes more dominant in the newer crops.

Regards,

Jerry

I think the sky is too bright here, especially when it seems more correctly exposed in the reflection. It would be better with some darkening and colouring, as in all reflection photos I believe the real and the reflected view look best when they are most like eachother in both color and light. My opinion anyway :)
