Guest Guest Posted April 14, 2009 deb, Cute girl - good composition (the little girl is perfectly positioned) - the background is so busy with tiny little things that it doesn't conflict with the subject at all - Sorry, but I don't like the colored flowers (it draws the attention away from the little girl's face - this is a portrait and therefore, it should all be about the girl, not the flowers). You have great triangulation: basket to face to hand with flowers - leads us right to the face and back to the face. The girl's face is too dark. In this bright sunlit high-contrast scene you must use a fill flash to lighten her face. The other option I see is to have the light coming from her back and expose for the face. Without shade in the background, you would still be in trouble. You also have a little spill of light on her left eyebrow. Great shot, Mark Link to comment
deb1 0 Posted April 14, 2009 Mark Thank you so much for giving me some thoughts on this image. I did realize after the fact that the full sun over head was not my friend. I was so far away when I captured this I don't think fill flash would have helped, but it was such a sweet moment I took the shot anyway. Your thoughts were very helpful and I really can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me. deb Link to comment
rbanfield 0 Posted April 14, 2009 Well I commented on the first one and found out the answer to my question on the second one. Wonderful candid of a youngster enjoying her Easter outing. Does well in Black and White...RAY Link to comment
