allyfittick 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Great portrait of the subject. Lovely back lighting. I would have preferred the subject to have been off centre or perhaps cropped tighter. Cheers. Link to comment
drjoder 0 Posted January 6, 2012 You handled the backlighting really well--it was very difficult to get that right in this situation, I'm sure. As Alistair suggested, how about trying a square crop? That is, put the body of the dog in the middle, but the face in the upper right quadrant of the square. Just an idea. Also, this shot reminds me of many situations I have been in while trying to capture images of the elk in Rocky Mountain National Park. A wildlife photographer suggested I try something called the "Better Beamer" which extends the range of the flash and you can get fill light and catch lights in the eyes of our subject from a pretty good distance. I throw that out as another idea in case you have found yourself in similar sitautions--I'm going to give it a try soon. Overall, though, a great capture of a beautiful animal! (Just perused your work--your architecture images, both interior and exterior are stunning!) Link to comment
