A cup of coffee and a book fail to fight off drowsiness for this woman in

this photo titled 'I'm just resting my eyes, really' - a phrase used by

many caught drowsing', intended as a 'slice of life' capture. Taken in

midday in a public place in Los Angeles. Your ratings and critiques are

invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly or very critically, please

submit a helpful and constructive comment; please share your superior

photographic knowledge to help improve my photography. Thanks!

Enjoy! John

John, there is some emotion - a story- here. I even like the way the chairs have their symmetry. The figure in the shop notices our character's distress, but she is in the shadows, behind the wall. Our character is alone. I know that is much different than "resting (her) eyes." Cheers.

The figure in the shop was not diminished in Photoshop -- the foreground figure was naturally bright from daylight, but the lighting did serve an useful purpose, didn't it?

The table top centers attention, then off to one side, the woman and her book, and more to the unbalanced side, she's 'resting her eyes' - asleep.

By not placing her in the center, the viewers'' attention is drawn through the photo.

She's at peace and no security guard tapping her on the shoulder trying to awaken her.

How wonderful.

This is a special place that attracts me to shooting which I won't name now, for fear of attracting attention - many may recognize it already, and I prowl its corridors pretty routinely.

It might be deserving of a book at some time or another, and given time I might have enough captures for just that.

Good captures that is.

This is a 'little' photo with no pretense, just 'slice of life' -- a quiet photo among some other, more dramatic stories.

Thanks for sharing your well-written comment.
