ryourth 0 Posted April 8, 2009 This is a wonderfull capture of your American Southwest landscape. Dick, I'm green with envy.love the foreground, so many intersting details & those weird bushes, beautiful tones. A seemingly different middleground leading the eyes to the distant bluish mountains. Don't blame you for wanting to return, we visited the southwest many years ago & still recall the beautiful pastel colours. definitely posted to my favourites. Best Regards-Ross Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted April 8, 2009 Thank you very much, Ross! There is a one way 13 mile drive through this canyon just west of Las Vegas. We took a 4 mile guided hike on a trail called the Keystone Thrust which is a visible fault line where red sandstone(150 million years old) is overlapped by gray limestone(more than 300 million years old). This is supposed to be quite unusual as the younger rock usually laps over the older. During our hike we could see the fault. It was hard to put the camera down at all, but I had to be careful of my footing. The guy in front of me fell twice and cut his hand. A cold front blew in while we were hiking and by the time we finished it was snowing hard. That was not something we expected in Las Vegas! I'm sure that we will return. My daughter took over 500 photos with her Samsung P&S...including my new bio photo. Best regards, Dick Link to comment

rbanfield 0 Posted April 10, 2009 See you were in Vegas and sorry I didn't run across you out at Red Rock. Really like your series from this beautiful location. One thing about the weather in Las Vegas it can change in 5 minutes flat. Guess you found that out from your reply to Ross. Please let me know if you get back here as I would like to show you some of my favorite areas of this area. Meantime you really captured the essence of this wonderous landscape. Kudos...RAY Link to comment
