dandem 1 Posted April 7, 2009 Wow, Tony. This is very different. It's so very creative as is the awesome p/p work. Thanks for sharing this awesome art. Regards, Lawrence. Link to comment
thadley 14 Posted April 7, 2009 This is a 'risky' presentation of an image and the purists here are not usually warm to something like this that would be difficult to achieve in the darkroom days. I suppose this is the place to test the waters. I did some post-processing on some cuba images and submitted the School children image for ratings and after 12 hours the best it could do was a 3/3, 4/4 and a 5/5 for an average of 4/4. Perhaps the message was that they don't really like the type of post-processing I did on it despite a few nice comments and a request by e-mail for technical details. I may submit this one and see how it does. Link to comment
thadley 14 Posted April 7, 2009 Thaks for your comments and ratings - presentation too radical? Something you would hang on your wall? Link to comment
JimCowan 0 Posted April 8, 2009 This is very striking and full of interest, however the shape reminds me of a flag and once seen it is hard to dismiss. There is tension in this image that I find hard to describe, overall I like it and I commend you for your creativity. Link to comment
thadley 14 Posted April 8, 2009 I appreciate the time for the comment and your reaction. I am happy you told me about the 'flag' perspective as I had not seen that part of it - what I saw was an image with a 3D aspect and depth. As I mentioned this is a good testing ground for likes and dislikes. Thanks for the rating - much appreciated. Link to comment
ifti 0 Posted April 8, 2009 Very sharp flowers with vibrant color to start with. Fanning out green leaves (fronds) add and expansive motion. The shape and the border gives it a three D effect. Attractive, unusual and pleasing. Link to comment

t37traveler 0 Posted April 9, 2009 Tony- This is simply stunning - again. Superb composition and creativity. One oft he first things I noticed was the flag shape that Jim mentioned. I guess that's from my sailor side - we're always noticing flags and burgees and pennants for a variety of reasons. Maybe I'm a little more swept away than some viewers might be because I love black and green as a color scheme, so I'll admit to an immediate personal aesthetic bias. I'm intrigued by the flowers - they appear to be plumeria - I've never seen them except in white and yellow. The red/pink tones create a very effective, gentle contrast with the black/green combo. I also like the way that light seems to radiate out of the circle of flowers. It's a winner, and since you deemed one of my photos to be excellent and rated it accordingly within the past 14 days, Iv'e either gotta sub-rate this work, which I refuse to do, wait a couple of weeks (I may forget since haven't yet created my threatened appointment book for ratings) or hunt it up in the rate photos forum, which will allow me to take of business in a timely manner. thadley 14 Posted April 11, 2009 I do appreciate your insightful comments on my images and your very generous rating. Just when I think I have pushed the eneveloppe of taste a bit to far, your strong encouraging words remind me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder - once again. I do realize that the appeal of this image is somewhat limited among my confreres here at PN and that is perfectly OK. Thanks again and best regards, Link to comment

michaellinder 16,611 Posted April 11, 2009 Sorry it's taken me so long to reappear. This photograph is perfectly titled. I can picture James T. or Jean-Claude at the helm as the Enterprise is propelled through space/time, marvelling at the wondrous sight on the viewscreen! Incredible creativity went into this one! I love the color treatment, and the shape is perfect. (btw, with all due respect to my colleagues, it's not a flag - just an object whose shape is morphed by warp speed). My compliments, michael (And a big THANKS!!) Link to comment
thadley 14 Posted April 12, 2009 To think I was getting ready to dump this image as a failed experiment and to receive all of this positive reinforcement is pleasantly surprising. Thanks for stopping by and trust that all is well medically with your family. "Biz hundert azoi ve tsvantsik". Link to comment
