Tiffany,

Interesting idea and very well done. I'm sure you will get many comments on multiple interpretations of this work - from death to rebirth (person just leaving life into nothingness) - the meaninglessness of life - the fleetingness of beauty or life - a "coming of age" into womanhood - maybe she is seeing that there is something more than what we are? - Etc., etc.).

She is a lovely girl in a not so traditional portrait. Well composed - good skin tones - nice make-up - good catch lights - good portrait lighting: all the uses of studio portraiture taken one step beyond into a realm that is not just a likeness of a person, but challenges our interpretation of life or religious (or nonreligious) beliefs. Of course, I may be reading much more into this than you intended, Tiffany. If I am - so much the better for your photograph. A well-done portrait that has meaning beyond that of the creator is more than just a representation of life. I hope you continue with this type of work.

Well done, Tiffany,

Mark

Gunga, Carlos, Eduardo, Mark and Jorg...thank you for your time, comments and ratings. I really appreciate the feedback. Mark...your critiques are so helpful. Judging your bio, it seems you are quite qualified to articulate your observations. I would love to see some of your work too. As far as your interpretation of the image, it sounds good to me. Most of my successful images come from a humble place...iow, I am not really trying to say anything. If I can connect to the subject, then I can be inspired to put together a piece that reflects the person. Usually, I am just struck by a texture or object and if I do it right, the person looks at it and says "wow, that is SO me"...that is my hope, anyway. This girl seemed pretty well adjusted, but I remember being a teenager and that feeling of just wanting to disappear.

Tiff, I've come back to this image at least 5 times now...I'm still trying to make up my mind...not sure why, but you have definitely captured my attention....maybe that's the point...not sure. Jeff.
