dabar 0 Posted April 1, 2009 A modified `Julia' fractal as viewed through a Fresnel lens. The background is derived from the fractal. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted April 1, 2009 I don't know too much about 'fractals' but they sure area providing you with great material for some really interesting 'abstracts work'.....very well done! Link to comment
setsail728 14 Posted April 1, 2009 Nice colorful abstract. Just curious (as I'm first dabbling with abstracts)....did you have this abstract pretty much finished in your mind BEFORE you set out to create it...or....did you experiment with a few (or many) post processing techniques and this image, somewhat unexpectedly, appeared on your computer screen?? I know so far I fool around with a few techniques and many times something appears that I like quite a bit but really didn't expect. I also realize that as I get more experience with different techniques I'll know what to expect before I get started. Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted April 2, 2009 In response to Warren's question let me first state that most of the time both choice and chance come into play. With this image I started with a little trial-and-error while looking for an effect that looked good with this particular image. I then repeated the application of the same filter to `step' the central part. Next came a bit of twist, a little stretch and cropping for asymmetry. Finally there are the adjustments and tweaks to color, saturation, levels and framing, matting or other presentation choices.I will also agree that many times while playing with a filter effect an artifact or unexpected pattern will appear. Sometimes with truly amazing properties. Link to comment
