Dave, I agree with with Lawrence and praise your wits. I am amused by the name of the movie.You have transported me to 1940/50s, when there was no multiplex and we enjoyed B & W movies.We had many cinema halls in India named The Odeon .The facade of this hall is exactly like Metro Cinema Hall in Calcutta , during 1940s.

Thanks. I hate to proclaim my ignorance, but I have no idea what the word, "odeon" means, or from whence it came. Time for a little googling.

Great old place. Thanks for photographing it before it gives way to an AMC megaplex. I'm not sure "megaplex" is even a real word.

Odeon was the name for a theater in ancient Greece. Anyway, this renders a feeling of days long gone despite the fact that they feature a contemporary film and I like that conflicting message. Youd did a good correction although the b&w here could use a bit more work.

As usual, you are full of information. I suspect what you want here is a bit less work on the black and white. I actually went through a whole bunch of stuff to get this look. I was aiming for dreamy, as in yesteryear. I'm sure you knew that, so all I can say is that I didn't want just a "straight" black and white interpretation.

I'll forget about the documentary vision of today's derelict state of that noble building to concentrate on the dreamy aspect you mentioned, David. As usual, you offer us a delightful view that bends on the most elegant side of nostalgia. That Art Deco theatre is a treat, and your post-processing takes us back to where and when it was probably built and knew its brightest days, the Roaring Twenties. I can hear some motor purring in the distance and approaching, the powerful sound of an old Duesenberg around the corner...

You know, David, I think the color version of this image has a bit more promise. There is something about the pastel colors, as opposed to the somewhat harsh contrast of the b/w version that intrigues me. This is not always the case, but in this image, I feel rather strongly about it.

I looks like an old picture. You manged to reveal the perfect atmosphere of the modernist era in a 2009 shot, and that's something. Good job.

I like your B&W version, but I tend to agree with Emmanuel. The color version without the crop gives more of a sense of place and plays off the title of the movie. Where does a shopaholic go in a town with one stoplight?

How odd it is to see an old theater with a new movie title on its marque sign. You did a good job of making the image appear to be one out of the past, but you could have also altered the movie title to, "THE COURTSHIP OF EDDIE'S FATHER", or another from even further back.
