celasun 0 Posted April 2, 2009 I liked the radiating warmth of the wall (which is contrasted nicely with the sky). The shadows help prevent the wall becoming too owerpowering. Nice balance... Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 260 Posted April 2, 2009 The shadows play very important role on it! PDE Link to comment
mark_q 0 Posted April 4, 2009 There is a small crucial detail here that makes this photo worth a discussion (instead of just a simple "Wonderful!" comment). I would love to know how important youself see this while you are about to take the photo out there, maybe deciding to come back later instead: The narrow horizontal slot between the dark bar of the french balcony and the top of the horizontal edge of the shadow manages to separate these two elements and creating 3/4 of a white frame around the balcony, starting from the top of the wall down and then lastly up along the left edge of the balcony. Any time earlier the sun having a lower position that bottom part of the balcony door had likely been in shadow too, and this delicate line haven't been there. Also your position further away from the building maybe had covered that slot. Jef, do you care to share your thoughts? Thanks. Almost forgot: that round ventilation frame is a very attractive detail too, as does the cloudless sky add to the purity of this capture. Link to comment
fhick 0 Posted April 6, 2009 Simple shapes, superb shadows, and few colors, all that with a great eye makes it is an excellent one. Link to comment
mark_q 0 Posted April 7, 2009 I almost missed your answer to my comment as you wrote it under my portfolio. It seems like I failed to express myself clearly, or maybe you just want to improve this shot anyway - the way or the other? As I see this capture, there is no real reason to improve it, well done as it is now - IMHO, but your mileage may vary ;-). What I appreciated was that dotty horizontal line that do separate the bottom of the balcony from the cast shadow below and around it, see the A-B line on my "map". Link to comment

jeffl7 0 Posted April 8, 2009 The shadow adds considerable depth, visually and emotionally, to the picture. A whole lot of geometric interest here. Link to comment
