pepmir 0 Posted March 29, 2009 Perhaps not a very aesthetic for dancers, but the picture is excellent. Greetings. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted March 29, 2009 Great scene Pnina. Running through the critique forum without finding anything that could attract my attention I fell on this and stayed there and without great surprise you were the source. Very well made. Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted March 29, 2009 is what I think of when looking at this image. As if a girl neatly aligned them and is now busy maybe with their clothing. I like a lot the tonal range and the reflection in the shiny floor.Regards, Tibi Link to comment
kaushikphotography 0 Posted March 29, 2009 Very artistic and well composed shot. Great view in large. Rgds. Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted March 29, 2009 A peculiar garden of beautiful alien creatures... or pods of incubated aliens preparing to open. They look like they are at the brink of coming to life... None to eager it seems to begin or perhaps they have an unpleasant mission ahead of them... --------------------- I like the anticipation that this still photo leaves me with (5, 4, 3, 2,... as the all rise to their feet.) Nice capture. ~Sky Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 29, 2009 What a delightfully eccentric and interesting shot. I presume they are dancers but the foreshortening gives them the look of newborn babies in a hospital maternity ward. Link to comment
vetterhome1 0 Posted March 29, 2009 It will take seconds - then they will dance ? Great moment. BR Joerg Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted March 30, 2009 Pnina, capture of unusual choreography. The way their heads pop-up gives me an impression, as if they are coming alive after being guillotined.Interesting perspective,no doubt. Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted March 30, 2009 Truly a remarkable photo..quite fascinating....Regards Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted March 30, 2009 Jack's description is apt. There's almost a sense of being swaddled in their experience. It's a bit disorienting. I like the long poles in the back, which seem to stretch the world back out. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 30, 2009 Vladimir Pep, and Christoph, thanks for your feedback. Anders, it is a very nice compliment ! Thanks a lot really appreciate it. Tibi, nice imagination you have ...;-)) Interesting impression. Kaushik, thanks for your nice feedback Sky, " incubated aliens preparing to open. " ...made me smile, nice to see you Jack, dance usually, most of the time is abstract, this dance is stirring my imagination. Also yours ...( with your good one it is not very difficult ...;-)) Jorg, yes they will.... Thanks Donna, the light colors of the dancing clothes do give the feeling of naked, it go's very well with the colored nets. Thanks for your comment. Cynthia, thanks as well! Amal, it looks that this one triggers very different impressions... Thanks for yours Keith, thanks for liking it,a bit unusual angle..... Jeff, thanks, we wrote simultaneously, I know that it is a bit an unusual angle, and a fraction of a second from a whole dance sentence, but it triggered my imagination, as I wrote to Jack....-)) Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted March 30, 2009 Nicely lined up, their postures sychronised neatly. Very well exposed too. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted March 30, 2009 When I first opened this image, like several colleagues who made similar observations, I didn't think that the subjects were persons. Because of the soft focus, especially on their faces, I thought they were mannequins, dolls, clay figures, computer-generated images, etc. It is amazing that, aside from being in essentially the same posture (at different stages), their faces show substantially the same expression. Is it concentration? Is it boredom? Is it devotion to their art? I absolutely love this photograph. It should be on display in a museum, as a work of fine art. michael Link to comment
tmcleland 0 Posted March 30, 2009 I agree; a beautifully composed and original shot. I get the sense of the less spectacular elements that go into creating that final, beautiful and "looks-so-effortless" performance. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted March 30, 2009 Their facial intensity speaks to the tireless effort in developing their craft. Very nice perspective, Pnina. Link to comment
davidorea 1 Posted March 31, 2009 Excellent and quite original photograph, Pnina. The poses and expressions are unique. Very good shot! Congrats! Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted March 31, 2009 pods, cocoons, newborns......these dancers are on the cusp of some kind of transformation. i think it is this "pregnant" moment of expectation that makes this so exciting. Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted March 31, 2009 Pnina, I find this to be full of humor - in fact like something from a vintage comic movie. There is humor in their poses and their quite serious expressions which contrast happily. Very good light and reflections on the floor. I tried a tight hand crop of the three figures on the left and on the right, and I liked the result. I think I preferred the three on the right - but a good image as it is! Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted March 31, 2009 Well, to be fair, I find this photo disturbing.Disturbing because it conflicts with my preconceptions. Because all my mental "dancers" are thin, nicely curved and light as feather. I do not like to be told or shown that I am plain wrong (what else do you expect from a grown up man?)! These five dancers "look" short, crippled, muscular and rigid... This forces me to make a choice between two alternatives: To insist that my preconceptions were all correct or to accept that dancers become elegant & light only after torture. And, here is my clever solution (again, what else could you expect from a grown up man!): I accept both!Did I tell you that this is a thought provoking photo? Link to comment
