whydangle 0 Posted March 27, 2009 A star-burst sun is supported by two leaning trees along Redwood Creek in Muir Woods. Thanks for your impressions! Link to comment
ian_clark3 0 Posted March 28, 2009 From one that photographs rainforest you have my best wishes. You have found a good way of overcoming the contrasts you get in a forest by putting the star burst in there. Well done its a stunning image. Link to comment
rbanfield 0 Posted March 28, 2009 Nicely done Mark. Great capture and love the way the stream runs thru the shot. Looks like you were in the Redwoods...RAY Link to comment
daverave 1 Posted March 29, 2009 There you go again, ignoring that old adage about good photographers never including greens ;-) [i'd never heard that one either!] Nice photo, BTW. Link to comment
hopsage 0 Posted March 29, 2009 The composition here is very strong, especially the curve of the creek and the sunburst, and your control of exposure is, as always, amazing. Color seems a little off on my monitor, though. It doesn't seem ... I don't know ... sunny. What I mean is that the presence of the sun seems to demand a bit more warmth in the color cast, even in the shadows (which always seem warm in the redwoods, due to the color fo the trees). Technically speaking, I'd like to see somewhat less nuclear greens, and a bit more yellow, I think. Link to comment
rbanfield 0 Posted December 27, 2009 I've been looking thru your folio ( for the hundred thousand time ) and came across this one again. I took a shot similar to this over 40 years ago and I would give my eye teeth to have it back again ( lost negatives, lost photographs and too many moves). I took mine off the Northern California coast up by Mendocino. Little forest with a stream running down to the ocean. Same kinda of trees crossing over the stream with light coming down thru the trees. Good memories and thanks for rekindling them. Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family...Lefty Link to comment
