beartooth1 0 Posted March 27, 2009 Wonderful light and colors..(as usual)...The foothills do seem a bit dark..in comparison to the foreground...just an observation... Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted March 27, 2009 Thanks, Ken. That hill on the right there got caught by the grad filter a bit and I failed to correct for it in PS. I'll look into that. Link to comment
seungkyelee 0 Posted March 27, 2009 A well-known place for photographers, but in this image a different mood and color tones takes me to a fairyland.Did you condense the lens on this one?The grass in the lower, left corner seems like glowing and a tad "esoteric", if you know what I mean. Excellent work, Marc. RegardsSeung Kye Lee Link to comment
gary_mcghee 0 Posted March 27, 2009 this is a beautiful image marc. the colours all look fantastic. the wispy grasses and meandering stream lead me right through this shot. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted March 27, 2009 The blurred foliage in the left corner look like they could have been done by brushstrokes. In fact there is something very painterly about the whole scene, like an oil by a master, particularly the lower half of the image. Very much a shot to get lost in. Link to comment
yttergaarden. 0 Posted March 27, 2009 Excellente in all its beauty. It is a fantastic landscape image. Cheers, LKV. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted March 28, 2009 Not enough sharpening with this one. A poor effort on my part in this web presentation. That LLC does look really blurry, as does some of the sage over the river (although clearly not a detrement to the presentation for all). Sage does inherently look a lot like brush strokes in photos though, which is one of the reasons I like to include it so much. Thanks for the comments. Link to comment
mcginty 0 Posted March 28, 2009 The river provides a great visual line that moves the viewer's eye through the foreground to the snow covered mountains then curves right toward the moon. The clouds also reinforce the mountains by the subtle diagonal lines leading to the mountains. The light colored sage balances the foreground with the white snow. The foreground red willow limbs also balance the warm sunlight tones. Very well thought out placement of the elements in this photo Marc. Timing was perfect as always. Thank you for sharing. floris2 0 Posted March 28, 2009 Was this from the morning you shot with the group, or later? Turned out pretty good if you ask me! I love the inclusion of the moon, and the sage is just magical. Though it does look a little soft - I'm guessing you used some of your PS not-orton glow on this one, perhaps a hair too much? Looking forward to the rest of your takes from the trip, I know I said you should share more of your abstracts on NPN, but I still want to see the others! Link to comment
daverave 1 Posted March 29, 2009 Probably my favorite from your recent postings, very evocative of the Eastern Sierra landscape and the saturation is appropriately understated. Technically perfect as usual of course. Keep up with the postings, please! Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted March 29, 2009 Floris, I think you'll find that if I fix the sharpening issue, it should have a bit more natural appeal. I don't like this as soft as it is here. Link to comment
Saludos. Link to comment

ryan_dyar 0 Posted April 9, 2009 I actually shot near this same stretch of the Owens last month when I was down there. I found it a little difficult to shoot due to the tall grasses. You found a very nice bend here, and the light goes great with the earthtones. I got a tick while I was there, I hope you were luckier! Link to comment
