ldavidson 4 Posted March 27, 2009 I often come across wildlife in my travels but never get any really good shots. I would love to take better wildlife images so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking. Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 258 Posted March 27, 2009 I like it a lot, even the frames color and the suitable black stroke! Thank you for your visit Linda! PDE Link to comment
t37traveler 0 Posted March 27, 2009 Wonderful subtle textures, lighting and colors. One of my favorite compositional arrangements is triangles . I love the line of deer moving away from the viewer - only one has paused to look back. I find myself intrigued by this single "free spirit" - what did she see or hear to make her pause? Lovely subtle frame that prevents the pale, delicate shades in the photo from being washed away by the white surround on the monitor. Excellent work and rating to reflect it! Link to comment

jeffl7 0 Posted March 28, 2009 A perfect crop. The one figure in the center looking back makes the scene feel immediate. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted March 29, 2009 Linda I too like this crop and the over feeling of this herd...maybe a tad more room to give a sense of place would be my only suggestion... In just the last few weeks my girls and I moved a little higher in elevation...4600 feet.We had whitetail deer like this sleeping in our yard before, keeping Lilly busy everyday...now we have Mulies and Whitetails like this....20 or more sleeping in our yard...she is almost happy to come in at night...I am not sure if she wants to herd them or chase them away because she thinks of them as predators? At any rate...the diagonal of this image is pleasing to mine eye!.......juan Link to comment

ingermargrete 0 Posted March 30, 2009 It is a really lovely shot. Great composition and light, I like the eye contact with the deer in the middle, it creates balance I think:) Link to comment

margaret1 0 Posted April 6, 2009 Being from Florida, I find this image unbelievable. What a fantastic sight. I don't think I've ever seen mule deers. The ears are incredible. It is a great shot! Glad I've had a chance to see such striking animals. Welcome to my world of aligators! Link to comment
jkilgo 0 Posted April 7, 2009 This is cool...I've got a similar shot in my portfolio but with a doe and her three fawns. I really like the B&W tones and textures...nicely composed too. Just a tip, if you ever encounter a similar scene in the future, wait until you have the frame composed and whistle or make a clicking sound and I guarantee you they'll all turn and look. Nicely captured. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted April 9, 2009 Thanks for commenting everyone. Sorry for taking so long in responding. It's good to hear from you Jeff. I am a little surprized that I received feedback that was so positive. I just never know. Sometimes I'll post something I think is great and get a few threes or it's ignored. With this one I was so excited about seeing so many deer at once and wanted to get closer and shoot as many shots as possible as quickly as I could before they bolted. Jaun you are right, but it was more of a gaspish croak. It must be wonderful to wake up and find deer sleeping in your yard. We only get Black Bears and the occasional Coyote. Cynthia Jean, these guys could work for Santa. You should see them fly! When they did spot me they were all airborne and gone in a flash. Very gracefully. Hi Inger Margrete, thank you. Keith, thank you. Margaret, those ears really are incredible. I think they are helpful when they are airborne. You can keep the aligators, thanks. I'll stay up here in the Frozen Tundra with the deer. J Kilgo, I am going to check out your deer shots. Thanks for the tip. Warm regards to all of you. Link to comment
