This is looking into Golden Gate National Recreation Area. While views of the Golden Gate Bridge are captivating, the views from the summit of Conzelman Road on the northwest side of the bridge are also quite spectacular. If you are lucky enough to have some extra time visiting San Francisco, I highly recommend taking in this excursion. The views of the bridge from here are amazing. As well, looking in the opposite direction towards the Pacific; Point Bonita and the Lighthouse, Bonita Cove and the summit of Mt. Tamalpais, all come into view. This grouping of trees framing the scene looking north towards Mt. Tamalpais are catching the last light of the day. The scene revealed itself while I was exploring the summit trails. I hope you will enjoy a Larger view. Thanks for your time!

I read somewhere that good photographers avoid green like the plague. I think you laid that one very firmly to rest here. These are the most refreshing and realistic greens I have seen for a long time. Such a tantalising view through the trees too.

Thanks Aivar and Simon. You know what they say Simon; ignorance is bliss. I am not familiar with that adage about good photogs avoiding green. Then again, if I was a good photog, I could never have pulled this off. There was a gorgeous, diffused light bringing out some wonderful detail in the foliage and I was more intrigued by that than the distant view. A faint glow of red on the distant horizon may be what helps achieve some balance here.

Beautiful image. I think the fact that the green is tinted with that warm glow that make it many shades of green also dispels the old adage. Very well seen and composed..The mist and the mountain range with the rising sun creates a superb finishing touch. Regards rek.

Mark.... This is fantastic. A superb shot, in spite of the greens :-). I haven't heard that saying either and it doesn't bode well for all of us in the southeast... nothing but green here! As for this shot, the sense of peace and tranquility transmits so well through the image. Wonderful shot... Mike

forget what they say about shooting the green. Nicely captured and well thought out. My old stomping grounds, Marin county and Mt. Tam. Takes me back to racing on this old road. Talk about stupid...RAY

Thank you Piet, Richard, Mike, Linda, Mary. Dr. Didi, Ray, Lennart and Cynthia! I appreciate all of the kind words. Shooting greens has been unavoidable lately, what with the springing going on here in California. I can see the possibility of greens going wrong, much like flesh tone getting too red or yellow. As Richard said, the warm glow raking across the fresh green has probably made the difference.
