Cottage garden, Richmond, Tasmania (best viewed larger)

This garden is planted on the road side frontage of the Richmond Hotel

which was convict in 1830 and operated as a carriage staging post for

the town of Richmond. These old historic buildings are lovingly

maintained by the local residents and act as major draw for local and

overseas tourists to 'historic Tasmania' (well, maybe not historic in the

European context but still, old for Australia anyway).

 

The HDR treatment might at first seem a strange choice for a garden in

an historic setting... but I feel that the deep colours and saturation suit

well these green and colourful oases in an otherwise increasing dry

countryside in southern Tasmania.
