This must be a very famous and much photographed inner arcade. I have seen several submissions here in PN of the same subject, but the quality of the light rendering I see in yours , Mikel, is unprecedented. The wide angle was put in good use and the low pov has given a nice double-trapezoid shape in the central pattern. Exquisite architectural shot!

Ze ondo Mikel,

Argi naturala, zintzua, ongi neurtua, rango zabalaz, ta batere forzatu gabe ediziuan...Benetazko HDR bat. Ta Mikel berriztu bat. Konplexurik eta beldurrik gabea!!

Ongietorri funtsik gabeko 7/7aren "etsaien" alderdira Mikel!

Nun aterata dau argazki hau??

Besarkada bat,

Iker

Amaieratik haste arren, argazkia Gironan dago aterata. Expo bat neukan Sant Feliun eta aprobetxatu dot hantxe egun pare bat pasatzeko. Ez dakit Mikel berri bat izango naizen baina beste modu batez ikusten dot oraintxe PNren asuntu hau. Nahiko nekatuta nengoen honaino eutsitako dinamikaz eta aldatzea erabaki dot; suposatzen dot hoberako izango dala. Besarkada handi bat.

Genial tratamiento de la luz y el color, y curioso efecto que crea de aparentar no estar centrada. Buen trabajo, como habitualmente haces Mikel. Un abrazo desde A Guarda (Galicia)

... these are harder to shoot than they look but your wide angle choice is excellent. Such a small, intimate cloister and you've captured it well. I particularly like the way you've also captured the vaulting and how it sets down on the cloister arches. The blue highlights are a nice touch. I don't think I've ever seen a cloister built quite like this before, and the floor is magnificent. Is that a more recent addition or part of the original Benedictine structure? Anyway, Mikel, this shot makes me jealous :) Thank you for posting; this is a beautiful Romanesque structure and I wish so much that we would have been able to shoot here. Maybe in a year or two.

for taking the time to comment these photos. You are right, this kind of takes are harder than they look like. The key is making several takes with different exp. values.., nobody but you does it better :-) The floor seems to have been added later in order to facilitate the burials, but I'm not sure. I have read that is visible in the carved capitals of this cloister the hand of the "maître de Cabestany", whose participation is demonstrated in more than 100 buildings all along Catalunya, Roussillon and Tuscany. If you know something else about this man, or if you have seen his hand in any stature, you know where I am :-)) Thanks again, Dennis.

... one of our favorite sculptors of the time (along with the genius who did the Isaiah in Souillac and the Jeremiah at Moissac.) I am even more sorry to have missed it. There is a museum to the Master of Cabestany near Elne (in the town of Cabestany). We actually got wonderful shots of the tympanum of Notre-Dame-des-Anges in Cabestany and the frieze at the church in Le Boulou. I can only envy you the opportunity to shoot his work at Sant Pere de Galligants. His work must have been wonderful.
