mikeoday 0 Posted March 22, 2009 Lovely photo Gail of cute critter. Is this a chipmunk? We have a nocturnal visitor to our deck most nights that I have tried to photograph without success. It is known as the Sugar Glider and would fit in the palm of my hand (if it were to ever stay still long enough that is). Anyway, your little fellow brought our visitor to mind. It is a little sad though; there used to be a pair but one night we heard a thump and flutter and a large owl hopped away off our balcony – now there is only one. Cheers, Mike Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted March 22, 2009 Yes it is a chipmunk Mike...They are so cute and quite friendly. The little fella that visits your place (do you live in Australia, or Tasmania?)....I'm pretty sure I have seen in documentaries. Awful sad when you have a pair of 'little friends'....and one meets it's 'demise'. It is natural (nature and all that) but I even have trouble watching 'doc's where a younger animal is attacked as it has beeh too slow for the herd....or cannot find it's Mother. It is the circle of life, but I'm afraid I don't have the stomach for what is just a 'fact' of life and the other creatures' survival. nice to hear from you.....better get back to work...have another 'Chippy' waiting...Gail Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted March 22, 2009 Lovely composition Gail. Thought it was a hamster without seeing the tail here. Nicely done. Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted March 23, 2009 Thank you Keith and Lawrence...chipmunks are quite common creatures in most parts...but they're just so 'darn' cute that you can't help tak'in a 'snap'. Link to comment
soniam 6 Posted March 23, 2009 super cute. Wonderful detail and contrasts. i love the warm light - it makes it feel like an inside shot rather than outside Link to comment
judenoellim 0 Posted March 24, 2009 at first i thought this was a portrait of a house pet under a controlled environment. after reading the write-up i now know otherwise. good work on capturing this wild animal.. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted March 25, 2009 This photo was taken in a woods....during the last days of our fall season...Chipmunks are cute little critters....they become quite tame once they get to know you....I have a shot of another one (could be the same one) in my Animals and Pets folder.....they are common....but people just can't seem to be drawn to them....give them a penut and you've got a friend for life!!
