dabar 0 Posted March 16, 2009 Shot at a local coffee shop. Some nearby workers were thinking that Iwas crazy for photographing a painted concrete post with blisteredpaint.I told them that it would be a work-of-art when I finished with it.Guess I'll have to show them a print... Link to comment
mnelson 0 Posted March 16, 2009 I get a lot of weird looks too when I shoot "unusual" things. But they just don't see what we see, do they? This is beautiful. The colors are nice and warm without being too saturated. Nice job. M Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted March 16, 2009 I just showed this image to one of the employees of the coffee shop where this was photographed. The original subject was just a few feet from my right shoulder and he was able to compare the source with the resulting image. He was astounded! The young man is studying graphic arts at Xavier University here in Cagayan De Oro. I can only hope that this experience, and other things I have shown him, will assist him in thinking, and seeing, outside-the-box.In my past experience teaching creative photography I have taught to think outside two-dimensional boundaries and extend your visual space into additional dimensions. A square becomes a cube... a cube becomes a tesseract when you translate from two, to three, to four dimensions. Finding ways to visually represent this array of dimensions is a constant challenge to your knowledge, vision and technique. Then there are visual illusion, emotional cues from color, form and perspective to be considered and judiciously applied. It helps a great deal to have a working knowledge of physics, both classical and quantum, the psychology of visual experience, and optics. Creativity is fueled by knowledge and inspired by life. Live, Learn, Create. Link to comment
