paolo de faveri 1 Posted March 15, 2009 xperimenting with new - new for me, of course :-) - techniques enabling me to go beyond the magic hour boundaries and still being able to convey a good deal of mood and drama. I took this picture at 4PM - broad daylight therefore - and directly aiming the lens to the sun. Not exactly what it is considered an ideal setting, usually. I used a strong neutral density filter (B+W 106, 64x) in order to record some motion in the receding waves, and to even up the brightness of the sky I also used a GND with a graduation of 8x. The resulting exposure setting was 1/4 @f11. Your comments and critiques are highly appreciated. Details: Eos 50D, Tokina ATX-Pro 12-24 f4 @14mm, B+W 106 ND (6 stops), GND 8x (3 stops), tripod. 1/4 f11 Iso 100 Link to comment
jdengo 0 Posted March 15, 2009 I don't have many comments regarding the technique. It certainly worked!!!! This is one of the best landscape shots in PN, beautifully composed. (I love the twirling water in the stone). Congrats!!!! 7/7 Link to comment

martha_cabey 0 Posted March 16, 2009 The sky is beautiful, and the calm sea which meets it on the horizon line contrast so well with the swirling movement in the foreground. I think it was an excellent choice to place the rock in the middle. The curve of the water in the right corner only slightly unsettles this balance. Great image. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 17, 2009 Another beautiful seascape. I really like the effect of the colors ...almost black and white, with a touch of color in the sky......lovely Paolo Link to comment

plangereis 0 Posted May 1, 2010 Very nice shot, Paolo. Your work really has such moodiness. Once again you have created a strong contrast texturally between the sky and the sea. The long exposure really works in capturing the movement of the water around the rock in the foreground, which I like centered. The cloud patterns and lighting in the sky are to die for. Thanks for sharing this one. Link to comment
