rina 0 Posted March 13, 2009 I think there should´nt be any shadows. What do you think ? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 14, 2009 Rina, I don't think the shadows hurt your image at all - except for the shadow that falls on her right breast. A couple of other things might look better changed, though. I don't like her hair cutting into her right eye. Her expression and hands on her hips make her look rather "hard". I would not have shown the "flat" of her hand. It is more slimming and feminine to show the edge of her hand. The little bit of skin below her left hand that the drape does not cover is distracting. She has nice looking make-up on her face, but her fingernails do not look finished? The drape on her right breast makes her breast look a bit deformed. It makes the top of her breast look flat of cut off. Very sharp - good lighting and focus. Very nice composition. Great catch lights in her eyes. Well done, Rena. I just took a look at your portfolio. You have some very nice work there. Have you noticed that many of your images have a sad (lonely, forlorn, lost, feeling of dispare, hopelessness, etc.) look to them. I don't mean just the portraits, but many of the other subjects, too. I'm not saying this is bad or wrong, but just stating the feeling I get when I look at them. I find it quite interesting. I wonder if others have noticed this and whether you do it on purpose? If you have time I really would like to know your thoughts on this observation of mine. Thank you for letting view your work. rina 0 Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks Mark for your detailed critique. I never thought of a "flat hand" and frankly I do not see it. Regarding the other points I agree. I still have to pay more attention before I press the shutter release. Well I do not think and hope that my pictures convey a feeling of hopelessness - probabely a feelilng of melancholie ? I guess, I like this mood :-) Regards Rina Link to comment
davidford 0 Posted January 15, 2010 Hi Rina, To start with, I really love this image. I love the lighting on her hair and I think it captures a great deal of detail. I do like the little bit of hair coming into he right eye as I think it adds to the mystery of the women being photographed. I agree with the previous critique that the makeup is perfect and I do find the little bit of material on her left hand distracting, but to be honest I didn't notice until it was pointed out. My main critique on an otherwise beautiful image is the shadow across the right breast. -D Link to comment
