Normally, I would not post an image of a bird at a feeder, but...last evening I went to

put out more seed in the rain. The birds were landing within 2 feet of my head. So,

after I filled the feeder I went back out in the rain with my Sigma 30 mm, f1.4 prime on

the camera and hid under the old birdfeeder. I was able to take this shot from about 2

feet from the bird, who looks as miserable as it was outside. Comments appreciated,

thank you!

Thank you all for your kind comments! Monte, I think that Jean-Marc is correct. Yesterday two Nuthatches landed about 8 inches from my head. That is too close for photos unless I get the 105mm micro Nikkor that I've been eyeing:-)

Have a good day!

Poor bird sure does look soaked. Nice photo though.

I have my eye set on the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro. I plan to get it just in time for Spring.

Thank you, Linh and Kathy! I would have never thought about using a shorter lens for birds until this week. I've been looking at the Nikkor 105 mm micro for flowers and other close shots...now I see it will have another use.

Best regards,

Dick
