Photoshop manipulations to produce an effect.

tony_dummett

I took this picture slightly from the right and was tilting the camera up (needed to squat to get a good purchase as the shutter speed was slow).

I first warped the image (DISTORT and SKEW tools in Photoshop) to correct the peculiar verticals of the base, but this also warped the expression on Constantine's face. Applying a global transform only fixed the face, re-introducing the base's original non-symmetry. So I outlined the face are (down to the neck) with the lasso tool and distorted only that, filling in the "cracks" with amply-available cloning material from the rest of the wall.

I then trimmed the right-hand side of the base to match the left-hand side, giving the illusion of a more front-on camera position. I enriched the colors some, cropped the image tighter (in the process cloning out the piece of carved marble leaning against the wall next to the statue) and added text (looking up the grammatically correct Latin from one of many Latin Dictionary websites).

A larger version of the "poster" can be found here.
