During my two visits two Iran I've noticed that many women had small

bandages on their nose. I finally asked my guide about them and he

indicated that these women had recently undergone nose reconstruction

surgery . I've always considered Iranian women to be quite beautiful and

didn't understand why so many want surgery until I looked closely at

this photo that I snapped in public garden. As you can see in this profile

image, particularly the first and last ladies, they have noses that

resemble beaks. Apparently this is a common hereditary feature among

Persian women and is what they are trying to soften with surgery. The

white dots that appear to be on their garments are actually sprinkles

from a pond fountain that separated me from them.
