Very nice portrait, really good tones, and a sweet expression. To nitpick, it is a pity that the hand is cut on the lower border... just a detail. Cheers.

It is a nice portrait indeed. Yes, you cut the hand but the hand is there, I find it more interesting this way otherwise would look like a studio pose. The attention focalizes on the nice gentle smile and on the beautiful tones of the coat. I am not sure about the framing job, I think this image works fine with no frame at all, the grays would stick out more.

Antonio; thank you. The frame is not meant top be a from. I layer photo on a black background to square fotos on the thumbnail page.. If you look at a horizontal format you will see what I mean.

Meir, well, I do not think it the cut hand is a big problem. Telling that it spoils the photo is a bit excessive for me. I'm not a fan of perfection. I leave perfection for studio and nude photographers. In street photography, for me, a scene that "feels" true is more important than a perfect scene. Then of course: if the hand was not cut, it would have been even better. But my eye is not lead to the hand, it is not the first thing I see, it is not what gives taste to the image. That is the expression, the quality of the light on the face and on the dress. This is why I say it is nitpicking. I happen to really like this photo. Cheers! L.

Well said, although I don't think it would have been better if the hand was there. Each image is a unique experience, if Meir didn't pay attention to the hand at the moment of exposure that means that he was focused on something else. Like you said, the face and the beautiful lighting on the jacket. Who cares about the hand in this case? Only people that cannot read a photo over the technical aspect... As a matter of fact the hand is there, just not entirely there... It would have been a problem if it had been cut off completely to the wrist. Moreover, if Meir focused on the hand at the time of exposure, probably he would have lost focus and control over the timing on the visage and the mood could have been different. What's important is that he captured one of those "infinite instants"...

lovely, warmhearted capture. Meir i was referring to this folder, because on first sight i found so many different faces but no orthodox Jews; admittedly i missed the two (do i miss more?) However, i really appreciate your images. Comeing from the West Bank i had somehow hard times taking images of people in Israel. This is why i enjoy your folders so much. Are you a newspaper photographer?

Anyhow, great collection. If i could make a wish: an Israeli girl with ethiopian origins. I found them so beautiful ;-)

best,

flo.

PS: Thanks for helping me out with the name. I think most poeple in J will know him, right?

Yes you missed a few faces. And I missed one also. What is an "orthodox" Jew is not so obvious to you. You refer to Haradi but not all orthodox are Haradi. No, I do not work for the newspaper. I am retired. I have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you mean that most people in Jerusalem know Fawaz, then the answer is "no". I don't know anyone who knows Fawaz (excluding perhaps Suha and Amal) but I'm sure he is familiar to some Palestinians. I see him sometimes with a hata but never as a cowboy. Fawaz is in this folder. Jerusalem is a city of beautiful girls -arab and jewish. Thank you for the encourgaing remarks.
