Along the shoulder of Bear Mountain outside of Bakersfield, the open meadows have been monopolized by Fiddleneck flowers, creating a vibrant yellow-orange landscape. A few miles down the road at lower elevations, the foothills are dominated with lupine and poppies and a mixture of others I am not familiar with. I have been reveling in this amazing display. For this scene, movement seems to be coming across from top left to bottom right (the direction of light and shadow). I was fortunate to have the two boulders on the right just outside of the long shadow created by the boulder on the left. The old Oak tree speaks for itself. I was also fortunate to have clouds on a day when the forecast was for clear, boring skies. I hope you will enjoy the Larger preview. Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, another one! As beautiful as the scene is, I think this image works so well because of the composition of the anchoring rocks, the wonderful tree, and the surprise clouds... thanks for sharing, all the images in this series are great... Mike

Thank you Mike, Michael, Eduardo and Lucian. Hey Mike, it is hard to believe that it has been a almost a year since you took all of those amazing spring images of the Smokies. I still have that wonderful Tremont B&W you sent to Chris and I. What an awesome scene that is. I hope you can go back!

Thanks Jef, Leo and Dr. Didi. These Landscapes, full of flowers and diffused sidelight, are so much easier to work with. It is like arranging a song for someone with a voice like Tony Bennett, just move the notes around and let the singer make it happen.

classic but very effective composition. Given the light your colours are very appropiate and impressive. Classic it may be but I like it, a lot.

Thanks Hamed, Ton and Linda! Quite honestly, everything fell into place for me with this shot. Of course it goes without saying, I had to be there to get the shot. Therefore, even though the elements arranged themselves, I was there with a camera and in turn get all the credit.

I think this photograph, as many others of yours, has a distinct feeling attached to it, one of happiness and joy. I would like nothing else but to go forward and feel the grass and flowers through my fingers. Did you find it hard to pick a composition in this beautiful place?
