This is another picture from the series, ''Restoration of old family

pictures''. The original was shot by Charitos in his studio in the 30's.

Thanks.

Dear Dimitris, I just came across this picture and I was curious to see the whole "restoration" folder. I warmly congratulate with your initiative and strongly encourage you both to continue restoring old pictures and to put them in this or other photographic sites. By digitally restoring and storing these images we contribute to ensuring their survival well after the original medium will have faded away. As you can see, I embarked in a similar errand with old photographs taken in Sicily. I am particularly pleased that your own images come from Cyprus, a place that I know and love and which is for many respects so similar to my Sicily. Keep on with the good work. Regards.

Thank you my dear friends for your comments.

Michelle, thank you very much for your comment and your encouragement. I briefly had a look at your restoration pictures. They are simply wonderful. I will go back and have a closer look. Witout a past we have no future or identity and is funny you mentioned Sicily…My grandfather on my father’s side came from Mani, which is in the Southern Peloponese in Greece, right opposite Sicily. Many Maniots emigrated there. There are some villages in Sicily that they still speak a Greek dialect. They also took with them the ancient custom of vendetta and it was this vendetta that made my grandfather’s family to send him to Cyprus to live. So you see Michelle the historical link is even closer. I will write to you my friend.

Razvan I am looking forward to your restoration posts.

Hi Dimitris,

Very good work but most of all an excellent idea. You are very right mentioning that without the past, there's no future. You gave me ideas, I must work on my family album as well. Thank you!
