Church Of The Sepulchre, Tourists And "Holy" Stone

I liked their expressions. Both look sincere and respectful.

And they display this among passers by.

What makes the stone special (please forgive my ignorance)?

It is not ignorance. It is a christian thing. I had to ask also. The church was built over the site where Jesus was buried or believed buried. Before the burial his body was washed which is a Jewish custom. It is believed that this washing was on this stone.. Today people touch and kiss the stone.The scene is depicted in the wall murel, same room, behind the stone which I shot and attach. Cannot explain very well, sorry. I is kind of dark in the church. I had to pick a spot with something to brace the camera. shutter was down to about 1/2 second.
