I will admit that I find flower photography to be difficult especially when you have so many photographers taking images of them. How can I find something that is a bit different? Can I find something that I and others will find artistic? As I approach the flower and walk around it, it gives me time to think and then I will end up making several 'takes' attempting to capture that elusive image.

There are some beautiful aspects to this image - one is that you shot it with a fairly wide aperture giving that soft look and secondly the colors are very appealing.

Some photographers recommend focusing on the part that is closest to the camera while others a different part. Based on this image it is difficult to make a recommendation but I know that  I would have picked a different spot on which to focus. The other distraction is that in the middle portion there is a large white section of the flower that is almost white and that draws my eyes there.

You know that i am trying to be constructive and the Lord knows I still have lots to learn about this art form called photography but I may be unintentionally leading you down the rose garden with my comment.

So consider it food for thought and don't keep me in your 'bad books' re the comment.

All the best,

Tony, If I kept "bad books" - and I don't  - you wouldn't be in them.  I am sure you know that I appreciate critical perspectives and critiques.  Our honest, communication is the hallmark of our connection.
