sriram shankar gallery 0 Posted March 6, 2009 I was really amazed by the colors & designs of this pheasant. It almost looks like a chiselled/sculpted piece - especially around it's neck. Link to comment
t37traveler 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Sharp detail, but the background is so busy it distracts from the bird itself. Als o, the feet are cut off - that's a pretty big negative impact on aesthetics. Link to comment
eko purwanto photo gallery 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Nice bird with color...however hope this can be taken for improvement: 1. exposure on the neck you missed the detail as the light was too strong/exposure and brightness2. Background is too busy it kills the main object poi3. Framing composition need to review it as you lost one of her feet4. If the angle can be lowered it down with soft bokeh background this object would be a stunning animal Link to comment
sriram shankar gallery 0 Posted March 6, 2009 ... for your comments/feedback - I definitely value such constructive critiques. I'm attaching another close-up version - let me know your views on that. Cheers, Sriram Link to comment
sriram shankar gallery 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Just wanted to admit that I used a Point & Shoot camera (Canon SD 1000/IXUS 70) for this shot & it was hand-held. Though compositionally, including the legs would have been better - but I'm not sure if the quality (especially the background) could have been improved with a P&S camera - probably (almost certainly I guess) a SLR with a good lens would have helped! t37traveler 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Sririam- You are definitely at a disadvantage with a point and shoot. You don't need a high-end DSLR to get greatly improved flexibility in your shooting choices, and as a result, much better photos. The cropped version is much better than the original post. Just for the artist's eye, , et a piece of paper or something like that and hold it up against your computer screen so that you block out left edge of the photo just where the black-edged white feathers begin at the top of the bird's back..... notice that the resulting picture has a distinctly abstract quality to it with the use of two white triangular shapes and two black triangular shapes making up most of the composition. Just another view and idea to show you how to use your creative eye to alter the photo so that the dramatic color combination and shapes become the focus. Link to comment
