This Snowy Owl appeared at Pelham Bay Park for one day only - 28 Feb 2009 (a Saturday). Angel and the other BCBC folks (Bronx County Bird Club) found this Snowy near the handball courts adjacent to the Orchard Beach parking lot. By Sunday (March 1), other searchers could not find this owl...This is the first Snowy that I can remember from Pelham Bay Park since the mid 1980s (1986 or so). That one spent several days (about a week) at the landfill catching Ring-necked pheasants (common then), and mallard ducks. It also spent a few days in the Hunter Island area, hunting (on the wing) for rats at dusk.
