regis 0 Posted March 7, 2009 Hi Alberto Very nice scene. Simple, but pretty effective, however it's quite hard to state whether this is winter time or not :) Good overall exposure handling and very pleasant pastel colors. When it comes to your composition I have some doubts about it. Have you considered square cadre (i.e. cropping most of the sky part) ? At the moment the Sun is so dominant that the upper part is somewhat distracting. See the attachment with my suggested crop Cheers Piotr Link to comment
dallalb 0 Posted March 9, 2009 Hi Piotr, thank you for your constructive comments. I thought it was clear that this photo was taken on winter time, because of the bare trees and the overall cool tones, but maybe it's not too obviuos ;-)Unfortunately you attached the original image and not the cropped one but I understood your opinion (is it something like the attached file below?): I admit I thought about cropping the upper part of this image, but finally I did not for several reasons. I generally don't like the crops that modify the original aspect ratio (3:2 in this case) of the image, since I compose it on the field arranging the visual elements in function of the viewfinder aspect ratio. For this shot I finally went to a vertical composition because I wanted to show a wide portion of the color gradient of the sky and because I found interesting the black silhouettes of the braches against the blue sky...In this case I think the image works in a square format, as well and your opinion is right.Regards, Alberto. regis 0 Posted March 9, 2009 Hi again Alberto Sorry for that - I must have chosen a wrong file when uploading and didn't check it after wards. "Mea culpa". Your crop is exactly what I had in my mind. I understand your reasons behind leaving the original composition. I simply prefer the square one much more :) Cheers Piotr Link to comment
