Dance designation as I see it ,and photograph it, is in part as can be seen in the Oxford dictionary:

" A movement of a limb, or a body, as an expression of thought or feeling.

The use of such movement as a retorical device."

Me choosing the gestures that expresses the movement, thoughts, feeling ,which are not verbal , but can signify a verbal wording..

Interesting discussion , and link, about "gesture" ,can be read here:

Thanks for your thoughts.

...very much like a frozen tableau in motion.. is the first thought in mind.Sometimes the very first impression is the most telling, whether right or wrong. :=)

Pnina, this is an original and excellent shot. You have blended reality, imagination and art with the skill of a virtuoso. To me they appeared like swimming in the water towards light. One of your best work and my favourite.

Graceful, fluid, with the body positions, softness, femininity, veil, like an experience in the womb of Nirvana. Reminds me of birth.

Excellent work, for me the movement and warm tones coupled with the veil or membrane (as I see it) elicit strong emotions and a desire to escape, to struggle forward. It's a great image, with much to give the viewer in contemplation...almost philosophical for me in my reaction to viewing it.

Amal, I 'm glad it is your favorite, I love this one as well.

Donna, I think that there is something for each viewer to connect to it, and interpret it in his/her own way. Thanks for yours.

Chan, thanks as well

Drew, " a desire to escape, to struggle forward" is a very nice definition. Thanks for expressing your feelings the way you did.

Jef and Milena, thanks to both of you.

Cherlyn, " reaching out " is as well a nice impression of yours. Belongs to that series which evokes a lot of feelings and associations in me, and it seems in the viewers too.

This dancing technique must be something wonderful to see, Pnina. Your capture makes a beautiful image of blur, motion, and warm tones.

Gorgeous. Impossible to tell if it is staged or candid. The hands are intriguing and the framing sensational. I love the subdued tones as well.
