While trying to capture the sun you should also make sure the foregound you include has enough light on it. You could use graduated ND filter. I would even especially avoid trying to capture the light from such bright sun, by hiding behind a tree/mountain etc in the frame, and then rather let the foreground illuminate with the warm golden light.
