Thanks, Monte! LOL! I've been experimenting. The 80-400 seems sharper pulled back a bit from 400. This is at 370 mm, on a tripod. I was able to get about 10 feet from the bird and catch the sun glint in it's eye. Practice, practice, practice...then maybe a better lens:-)
