This looks an oil painting of a clown?.I think it is probably a colored one,and you have converted it to B/W ? this are my assumptions of course, in any event it is a nice B/W, with good nuances of greys ( the very white triangle on the R is pulling my eye there...Maybe lower its intensity a bit? and I wonder what is the lower 1/3 line?) Thanks for your explanation.

Some astute observations. Some of the answers to your questions are in my 'Details'. Basically, it's an ice sculpture and the line you speak about is where the original blocks of ice join. I found this 'court jester' in a windowed tent and the bright spot is simply part of the plastic window. Very poor lighting conditions, and the only choice for me was to place the sculpture as close to the center of the window as possible and use the backlighting to show the details. Thanks for your time & thoughts. Always a treat to hear from you. Best, LM.

Well for me it looks like a "Joker" lying on a plate of ice...very interresting.. I like also the way it separate the element like a Cubic painting of Piccasso , we discover new scene inside after a while

Is it the only one in your folder 2009?...seems you're in a funny perspective for this new year.I'm curious to see more !

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one. I haven't done too much shooting so far in 2009 but stay tuned when the weather warms up. I'm like a groundhog in winter; I stay pretty deep in my den. Best, LM.

John said it all. This reminds me of the line from Eliot: "...I have seen my head ... brought in upon a platter..." compliments -koushik

Frozen for sure, just like the rest of us in this neck of the woods at this time of year. But I agree, kind of sneaky looking too. Looks a bit like the salesman that sold me a car one time. :-) Good to hear from you again. Best, LM

Len - Congrats - you have managed to use "pure photography" to come up with an image that could pass for a painting - perhaps even 'abstract'. Intriguing indeed and thanks for the details and explanation. Best wishes,

Ice sculpture was located in a tent. Only light available was from a

window behind subject. How would you have handled this one? Best,

LM.

Every winter the city (Barrie, Ontario) holds an ice carving event.  This was just one of them.  It was covered by a tent and therefore hard to photograph.  The secret lay in walking around until a window was behind it.  I think this one is a 'Joker' or court jester.  Best, Len.
