The color and composition is very good, but the frame is distracting.

Nice job with the flower. DOF could be a little better so that we don't lose the back edge of the petals. The frame thing isn't working, it interrupts the picture rather than framing or holding the viewer in. -- Charles

Steven - You stated that you were 'trying and learning new things'. As such, I think that this is a great image. Great compositon and DOF. Personally, I don't see the frame as distracting. Especially since that is what you created to be part of the overall picture. You have a very good start. Keep it up!

Steven, you have a given a new dimension to the flower.I like the image. Sometimes, we have to think and act ,deviation from the normal path.
