i like that all of the space is filled with something interesting - where the tree's shadow falls and how the holes in the clouds aren't blocked by the trees, for example. whatever's going on with the tree trunk/stump in the bottom left corner is really distracting to my eye, though. if it is a separate stump that just happens to line up with the tree, do you have another shot at a different angle where they're separated?

Megan - That's just one tree, one of the trunks severed, snow resting on top. I don't find it to be a distraction, it does draw my attention, but my eye then travels to the pines and into the sky. Everyone reacts differently though and I appreciate your honest reaction. Thanks!

Agree with other posters on nic light, contrast and composition, but ESP like the way it captures the "tilt" and steepness of the hill.  You can really sense the place...

....and all others that commented.

This was one of my favorite days with the camera. Spent about 6 hours hiking around in fresh fallen snow without a soul around. Glad you all like the results.
