knobby6 1 Posted February 19, 2009 Nice detail. If you are going to shoot a lot of small birds you might want to get the 600 instead of the 500. Not just for the reach, but they are in the shade lots of the time, so you would need a tripod anyway. Link to comment

rarmstrong 0 Posted February 19, 2009 Thank you all, very much! I am in the market for a longer lens...not sure which one yet...lots of time to think it over! Regards, Dick Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted February 20, 2009 Not easy shooting these birds as they always seem to move:-)) But you seem to make a good job of it...well done and Regards Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted February 21, 2009 Thank you, Keith! I started feeding them in my back yard so that I could attract them to practice. They don't sit still for long. I can sit out in the open, in the snow, with the camera on a tripod about 12 feet from the birds and they don't mind as long as I don't make any sudden moves. It's been a lot of fun, but has me longing for a longer lens:-) Have a good day! Dick Link to comment
