GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted February 16, 2009 Linda, I really love the way you approached this composition. Very effective, having the sunflower hanging out of the frame...Great colors, DOF....lighting esp. good. Beautiful! My 'tabs' won't pull down, so will have to rate here......6/6 Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted February 17, 2009 It is nice to know that I am not the only one who likes to photograph flowers that are past their prime. I find them to be much more interesting when they are dying than when they are young and growing. I like the "outside the frame" effect that you have provided and I'm pleased that you did not go overboard with doing it. Very nice work on a subject I identify with. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted February 17, 2009 Christoph, thank you for commenting. Gail, thank you, I appreciate you letting me know your thoughts. Fei, thanks for stopping by. Shawn, I love them in all stages, they just seem to have more personality when they are having their final fling. I think flowers and people become more interesting with age. Sunflowers especially have such a sweet sadness about them when they are in decline. I look forward to seeing your Flower Show photos. Thanks to all of you! All the best. Link to comment

clayton_berg 0 Posted February 17, 2009 I love this, sort of a sad statement. Even your digital frame contributes to the overall theme, I love how the flower is drooping out of the picture. Clever. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted February 17, 2009 Michael, thank you, I am honored! I don't think I have been in anyone's favorites before. Thanks Clayton, I was aiming for a sort of sweet, nostalgic, goodbye to summer saddness. Jerry, thank you for stopping by. Thank you all for stopping and commenting. All the best. Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 260 Posted February 23, 2009 It is very difficult to make a picture of sunflowers, they always have some mistakes and partly look faded! Good choice to choose then a really faded one, ha! Looks great really! Cheers Linda! PDE Link to comment

trisha jean-angela 5 Posted November 1, 2009 I really like this Linda; I love the faded and softer colors of the aging flower. I especially like the effect you have given it hanging out of the frame; it's as if it is reaching out for help so it can remain within the living world. I find it sad. Very well done. :) Link to comment

lizweisiger 0 Posted May 6, 2010 Linda, I love how you presented this flower with the petals out of the frame. It adds drama and interest. I love the sense that this is a dying flower, yet it is still elegant and beautiful. Link to comment
