Deer stranded on Lake Superior ice

This Whitetail Doe jumped a snow bank yesterday and ran about 300 yards onto the

thin melting ice of Lake Superior to avoid being hit by a car. As of this morning there

is no further news about her fate. Please view larger.

And, I should note, I put this up purely for interest.

A tad underexposed. Best of fortunes to the deer.

Doug, I accidentally had my camera set to -1.0ev when I took this. Bringing up the exposure really brought out the noise, so I posted it mostly for interest. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you, Jay and good to hear from you! The DNR actually rescued this deer with the help of the Coast Guard and a hover craft. It put a dent in their budget!

 

Amazing the difference that a year makes! It has been a very enjoyable year!
