berilula 0 Posted February 13, 2009 Besides all those HDR images that looks awkward sometimes, this image looks different. Of course, like a HDR, but one of those who looks natural and like a fine work of art. Or, could be just a great image. Best regards, Berilula! Link to comment
nishnishant 0 Posted February 13, 2009 Yep - agree with the other commenter. Unlike most HDRs that look cartoonish this one actually looks pretty natural to me - great work! Link to comment
James Kazan 17 Posted February 13, 2009 I like this composition it is well framed and a lovely garden. The post processing unfortunately for me weakens the finished product. There are no colors in nature that look like this. There are no buildings of this age that would have those colors. It has the look of a early 20th century postcard. This is my personal opinion and is not to denigrate the photographer. Link to comment

chrisspracklen 0 Posted February 13, 2009 I very much appreciate your comments! Thank you all for taking the time to write them. To James I would say that I take your point entirely, though I would add the following riders... i. In the best possible light this wonderful abbey would look more-or-less as you see it here. And, secondly... ii. Photography, (as any other art form), has a lot to do with personal taste, and I entirely respect yours. Indeed, I thank you for your honesty and the kind way in which you expressed it. However, my taste is for bright, vibrant colours. This is how I see the world. Through 'polaroid' sunglasses, if you like. But it's how I like to view architecture, nature, and so on. So this is how I process my pictures. It's not a mistake. It's not that I don't know any different. (Not that you suggested either of those things, of course.) It's just how I like it, fully realising that many other photographers won't like it at all! But that's fine. So, thanks again! Best regards, Chris Link to comment
JimCowan 0 Posted February 14, 2009 I really like your impression of 'Forde Abbey and Gardens'. This photo is very appealing, it makes me want to get on a plane and fly off to England to visit. A beautiful image! Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted February 14, 2009 Great interpretation of a beautiful scene. I do like your views on the situation regarding saturation. Indeed one man's meat......! Regards Keith Link to comment
vadima 0 Posted February 17, 2009 Hi Chris, this image is beautiful and I like your interpretation a lot. 100% agree that photography is art and does not have to be an accurate reflection of reality. Your saturated colors make this image very happy looking. Regards, Vadim Link to comment
