Terrific shot Paolo! I love everything about it, from the comp to the soft water to the amazing sky. The BW toning is top notch. Would love to know your technique for BW conversion.

Fantastic work, Paolo. I love the dramatics of the background coupled with excellent clarity and detail up-front. Wonderful work, my friend. Regards, Lawrence.

Thanks all for commenting on this, I'm really glad you like it.

Younes, of course every single image requires a different approach, however most of the times I convert to B&W applying first a black to white gradient map. I don't use the entire range of tones for the gradient map, I leave some room at the edges (so 10-245 instead of 0-255). This still allows me to play with contrast and brightness for fine tuning the image. Finally, I apply the tonality I feel that better suit the feeling I want to convey, using the colour balance tool. In this case I gave 5 points of yellow over blue, and 5 points of red over cyan. That's it!

Cheers,

Paolo

It's beautiful image, I love it because of has an original composition, excellent definition, low timing to give some emphasis to the sky, stunning soft appearance about the water and because of has an excellent post edition. Best Regards

This image is very easily the 'Image for the day' for me here on photo.net. I liked this verion the best out of the three, for all or most of the reasons mentioned by your other viewers above. Swell work indeed!

PS. I also throughly appreciate your explaining the process you went through to arrive at this marvellous finish.

Paolo, a truly beautiful image; excellent blending of colors; great use of textures; perspective is 'right on'; the eye is draw from the "anchor point" to the horizon and great effects in the sky. Very inspiring!
