I'm really enjoying these recent bird photographs! This is my favorite so far. You're really getting close, what lens are you using?

I'm glad that you are liking these, Tim. I'm sure having fun taking them. I'm using a Nikkor 80-400 mm VR zoom lens on my D300. I'm also using a tripod, but I'm moving it around so much that it's kind of like a massive monopod. The birds are attracted to black sunflower seeds in a feeder in my backyard. If I just sit quietly they'll let me get to within about 10-15 feet, sometimes closer. I was going to set up my deer blind, but that would have limited my ability to move around. So, another new adventure in photography!
