mugglee 0 Posted February 6, 2009 Giuseppe, nice image. Nice composition! What do you think about a crop closer to his head - maybe above the second lamp from the bottom? Link to comment
brossart 0 Posted February 6, 2009 Agree. I like the composition and the lighting very much. I second the opinion to crop a bit more off the top. I like the twigs in the foreground. I wouldn't crop all around. Nice shot. Link to comment
paola tegner 0 Posted February 6, 2009 la composizione mi piace molto. forse un pò troppa luce sulla testa del signore che scende le scale, ma a parte questo, la trovo di un'essenzialità stupenda. Link to comment
gunnar1664882369 1 Posted February 7, 2009 Very nice composition and excellent scene! Very well done. Best regards. Link to comment
wieslawmamon 0 Posted February 7, 2009 the photo tells the story and the title gives the clue about your intention but what makes bigger impression on me here is the idea of dividing the composition into two equal parts with a diagonal line. A bit pesymistic atmosphere of the bottom part with a piece of a bare tree contrasts well with in general rather optimistic elements of the upper part. A man descending along the line connects the two 'equal worlds'. I prefer your cropping, though I must admit the composition cropped as suggested by my friends would also be interesting but it would change the story a little. With best regards, -wm Link to comment
anna frosio 0 Posted February 7, 2009 Ciao Giuseppe,I like the composition like it is, with this diagonal perfectly at the same and opposite distance at right and left. Excellent capture and title. Very good B&W. Regards Anna Link to comment
Spero tutto bene. Ciao!! Link to comment
giuseppe_pasquali 0 Posted February 7, 2009 my friends for your attention and time. This time you posed quite a good question to me. To crop or not to crop? I thought about your words, and decided that all of you were right!! Those who like the photo cropped, I think they choose this way because they follow the so-called standard rules of composition and aesthetic. Those who like more my version have got the "narrative" side of this work, and - like I intentionally did - prefere to leave the shot as it was done, half and half, a man between two worlds (the light - although an artificial one - above, and the grim fingers of the Underworld crawling from the bottom). I post the cropped version, so we will be able to form a better opinion. Thank you so much for your continuos support, have a beautiful weekend and keep on with your critiques and suggestions! Ciao, Giuseppe Link to comment
diego bardone 0 Posted February 8, 2009 Pensa che io sarei per un taglio ancor più ardito :-) Buona Domenica! Ciao! Link to comment
life-in-perspective 0 Posted February 8, 2009 Very well composed. Almost two scenes merged into one frame. Nice work. Regards. Link to comment
antoniodare 0 Posted February 8, 2009 Mi piace così. Il bordo superiore della paratia definisce meglio la foto e il crop toglierebbe parte degli arbusti negativamente. Ciao, Antonio Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted February 12, 2009 I liked the photo and I also liked the discussion (as someone favoring originally the more conventional cropped version). However, I did not like the fact that I was also descending ;) Link to comment
