Dunguaire Castle is located in Galway Bay near Kinvara in west Ireland.

This 16th-century castle with its 75 foot-tower, and its defensive

wall have been restored and are now to excellent condition, surrounded

by a idyllic landscape.

The sea there enters deep in the land and the castle stands in the

innermost of the Galway Bay.

The castle was built by the Hynes clan in 1520, a family who has been

associated with the area since 662, when the site is believed to have

once been the royal palace of Guaire Aidhne, the legendary king of

Connacht and progenitor of the clan.

All your comments are much appreciated. Many thanks.

Karole,

the perfect light on these castle walls, the sunset sky, the perfect composition and the silver tones in the water, captured so eloquently, create the perfect scene for this fine Saturday morning. A treat for all to enjoy!

This castle would make a great set for the first scene of "Hamlet" and the appearance of the King's ghost to the poor guards! Impressive scenery and ultimate exploit of the location potentials. The strong side lighting on the castle walls, perhaps implies an added-on sky , which if is the case, adds the necessary eerie character to this eye-pleasing photo. Warm regards and compliments

The underexposed look enhances the effect of this image.

It makes me imagine people who lived there hundreds of years ago; looking at this same building with awe and, perhaps, fear...

Congratulations.
