We had a snow storm yesterday and this was taken this afternoon around 2:45 (sun is down by 4 this time of year). A blanket of white stuff provides special challenges and one must really look for little touches of color to provide some visual contrast. All input is appreciated.

Tony-

Excellent photograph! I think it's the multitude of subtleties that makes this photo so outstanding.... subtle color, subtle textures, subtle light, subtle repetion of form. The other element I notice is the echo of color and striation between sky and snow. This work emanates peace, cold and quiet that I can feel and hear. Very very well done. 7/7 and in my favorites album.

You have expressed so well all of the things that drew me to scene as I was driving along in my home area. All these nuances were not visible from the car but there was enough to get me to stop. When I got out I could appreciate it more. I took a number of shots including one with a cloudy sun to the left but that one and the others did not quite appeal to me as much as this one. Thank you for including it in your favorites and for your very generous rating of 7/7. I must pop over to see what is new with your image making. Best regards,

I love it. I noticed all three images on your front page have similar layouts but with different seasons. You could put them in a three frame spread. Awesome art!

Marjorie I am glad you like it also - I remember you saying that you used to ski in the Laurentiens in Quebec. Thanks for the max anon rating which is very much appreciated.

Joseph thanks for the kind words and very generous rating. I had a chance to watch slumdog millionaire tonight - excellent movie.

Richard - thanks for the positive remarks - not sure if you rated this anon - if you did, thanks for taking the time to rate.

I am truly gratified that this image has struck a good chord with quite a number of people. Perhaps I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

The lines and shadows created by the drifting create wonderful lines on the virgin snow. A beautiful but also a treacherous feeling to the landscape.
