whydangle 0 Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for your assessments, favorable or contrary. This is the Middle Fork of the Feather River in Plumas County, California. I recommend a fall photo shoot in this region, the color is quite good and there are no admission fees or throngs of tourists. Our cabin fees for each night were very affordable at about 70 dollars. Photographically, there is no end to the possibilities. The Larger preview is recommended! Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted January 29, 2009 I believe I remember this as a color shot also or something very similar. Regardless this is a beautiful conversion that filled with luminous tones and light. Very well done, Mark! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 29, 2009 I am with Leo; this rascal simply glows with light and has wonderful tones. Excellent conversion! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted January 30, 2009 I am humbled, three very respectable image makers offering favorable comments. Leo, Chris and Gary, thanks for your positive impressions. I can only say that with the striking light that was afforded me on this particular morning, I could do no wrong. Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted January 30, 2009 Mark, you are correct about the larger view! This is an almost surreal image! The details, light and tonality of this are just excellent! Great job! Regards, Dick Link to comment

davidmeiner 3 Posted January 31, 2009 I could try to make additional observations beyond what has already been said, but let me just say how much I agree that this is a fabulous photo. Very beautiful. Congratulations, Mark. Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted February 1, 2009 Interesting that this is called the Feather River.....the image is so soft and 'feathery'. It absolutely glows! That layer at the base of the mountain (is it fog?) brings the entire image to life. Just beautiful......and it's going into my Faves! Link to comment
yannik_hay 1 Posted February 1, 2009 What a great silvery B/W image! Really well achieved. I like the light glow in it and the fog in the middle plane just under the mountains. Also the buttery clouds in the sky. Great composition. Lovely in every aspect. In my favs as well! Have a great day! Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted February 1, 2009 Thanks Dick, Ray, David, Janusz, Leslie, Christal and Yannik. This is the North Fork of the Feather River in Plumas County. From Bakersfield, this clocked at close to 450 miles and a solid 7 plus hours of driving. After arriving, I immediately experienced a case of "buyer's remorse", thinking why'd I drive all this way when I could have gone to Sequoia, Yosemite or some place closer to home. I even dragged my daughter and father-in-law along to boot. My only other thought was that they must think I am crazy (they are probably right). This was taken on the next morning; fog was my savior, lacing the landscape with a surreal glow, meanwhile the sun catching the tops of the fall foliage. Three days later, I knew why I had to come here. Why? Almost nobody else will. I now have a nice little collection of sweetness that very few others have photographed. I never could have got these at Yosemite or Sequoia! Link to comment
yannik_hay 1 Posted February 3, 2009 Well said Mark, I agree with you, photography is about those things, fleeting moments, light and weather conditions. But it doesn't matter if others don't understand, but when they see the result, they like it :) Link to comment
piersing 0 Posted June 28, 2010 So this place is special to you... I think now this place is special to me too. A beautiful athmosphere comes out of this picture. Lights and shadows alternates well here. Good b/w. Link to comment
